Certina’s innovative DS+ launched a new concept for watches, offering multiple styles in a single timepiece. An ingenious three-part design allows owners of a DS+ kit to combine an assortment of stylish straps with a variety of watch cases in different shapes. Today Certina takes the concept one step further, multiplying the existing DS+ personalisation options with three new cases, each of which is worn with either the new stainless steel 3-link bracelet or a rugged new synthetic fabric band. And … they’re all black. All three black stainless steel PVD cases combine easily with the matt black stainless steel bracelet or the all-black NATO strap. 3 cases x 2 straps = 6 new styles! The perfect companion for fashionable attire in any style and colour, DS+ is back: Total Black.
The DS+ kit concept
The DS+ is built from three elementary components: watch head, watch case and strap. Each element is a self-contained unit that can be combined as desired with the other two. The round watch head is pressed from below into one of the stainless steel watch cases and screwed securely into place using a separate crown on the case. An innovative gasket made of bio-sourced material ensures a perfect seal. The strap lugs are located on the case, which makes it possible to use Certina’s quick-change system to attach your strap of choice. At its premiere, DS+ was sold in three different kits; today’s new DS+ Black Edition also comes in the form of a kit with special packaging containing the black watch head with black dial, three black cases and two black straps. All elements can also be purchased individually online.
It’s the look that counts
DS+ Black Edition features hour, minute and seconds hands in high-contrast white against the deep black dial, while each of the three different cases has a black bezel with either white markings and Arabic numerals or stainless steel screws – four or six – set at regular intervals.
Robust and reliable
Like the debut version, the new DS+ Black Edition is fitted with the robust and reliable Powermatic 80 automatic movement. This advanced Swiss made mechanical calibre features an 80-hour power reserve and a NivachronTM balance spring, which protects the movement against magnetic fields and provides enhanced precision over the long term. Thanks to its ultra-robust construction with screw-in case back and screw-down crown it is water resistant up to 20 bar (200 m). The new all-black kit is presented in an elegant box that holds all the elements securely in place. In keeping with Certina’s sustainability goals, the packaging is made entirely of recyclable materials.

The different personalisation options inherent in the DS+ concept can be reviewed and easily configured online. Set up your personal favourite combination at any time and have it sent directly to your home by the Certina Online Shop. Alternatively, you may wish to have a look at it using the Check & Reserve service at your preferred Certina retailer. And one more thing – your new DS+ kit is fully compatible with the DS+ launch edition kits, for even greater flexibility and style options. The new kit will be available worldwide from retailers and online starting in November, 2023.
