Modern, dynamic, and highly precise: The new DS-7 Chrono Auto is inspired by the popular up-and-coming sport of padel, which Certina has been involved with for years. The latest timepiece from the Swiss watchmaker celebrates this action-packed sport with a whole host of details. The striking dial features a grid structure reminiscent of the net on a padel court, and the contemporary automatic movement has an anti-magnetic silicon balance spring that is a match for even the fastest rallies.

Certina has been involved in padel – already the second most popular sport in Spain after football – since 2021. More and more padel courts are springing up around the world, where two teams compete against each other in doubles matches, and include the walls of the court in their fast rallies. This extremely fast-paced, powerful discipline is a perfect match for the Certina brand, which has a long tradition of sports sponsorship and producing ultra-sporty, highly robust timepieces.

The new DS-7 Chrono Auto with its striking 42 mm diameter stainless steel case, which is water resistant to 10 bar (100 metres), makes for a perfectly dynamic and resilient companion. A protected crown, classic mushroom push-buttons and a tachymeter scale combine sports style with functionality. The small second at 9 o’clock, a 30-minute counter at 3 o’clock and the date complement the hour and minute display.

The dark blue dial is resplendent under the anti-reflective sapphire crystal. It is enhanced by an embossed grid structure that is reminiscent of the criss-crossed lines of the nets and rebound walls in padel sports. Super-LumiNova® coating on the indexes and hands ensures optimum readability even in the dark. In addition to the dark blue version, on which a red stop-seconds hand adds a pop of colour, there are two models with a choice of a dark green or black dial. They are all accompanied by a steel bracelet with the quick-change system.

While the rallies in padel are known for their high tempo and surprising twists and turns, the DS-7 Chrono Auto always beats to the same precise rhythm. It has an automatic movement with a silicon balance spring, which can not only withstand magnetic fields and temperature fluctuations, it is also extremely resistant to shocks and oxidation, and is dimensionally stable. The mechanical movement can be admired through a sapphire crystal case back.

The new fast-paced DS-7 Chrono Auto will be available at official Certina retailers worldwide from October 2024.
