Marta Ortega is the new Certina Brand Ambassador
Marta Ortega, star of the increasingly popular sport of Padel tennis, has joined the Certina brand family and will serve as Brand Ambassador for the renowned Swiss watchmaker. A highly visible figure on the international World Padel Tour, Marta made her name at only 19 years old when she became the youngest player ever to reach the number one spot and remains a regular among the top 10 today. She is also a member of the Spanish national Padel team, which won the world championship in 2021 and 2022.
Marta, aka Martita aka La Doctora (she completed her degree in medicine in 2021), is one of the most exciting players to watch in this dynamic, fast-paced, and powerful sport. Padel is played as a doubles match, and Marta and her partner Gemma Triay were the first women’s duo ever to win a Premier Padel tournament.
Certina CEO Marc Aellen described Marta as “not only a sensational player, she also has an extremely likable and outgoing personality.” As for her sport, he said, “We love the pace and precision, the team spirit and the versatility of Padel. Marta is the perfect embodiment of these values.”
Marta was quick to reply. “I’m proud to count on such a renowned partner as Certina and to be its new ambassador. We have some great projects over the next few months, and I’m really looking forward to it.”
Padel tennis is a doubles sport, played over a central net with the walls forming part of the enclosed playing area. This makes for long, spectacular rallies that are as much fun for spectators as they are for the players. Certina has been involved as a partner in a number of national and local events on the Padel calendar from 2022 on.
